What is OpenVPN?
OpenVPN is a popular, open source VPN protocol that uses the TLS protocol (formally known as SSL protocol) to establish a secure connection between a VPN client and a VPN gateway.
The TLS protocol, which is also used to secure web connections when transferring sensitive information, uses certificates for endpoint authentication and latest security standards for data encryption and protection against manipulations. The secure connection is used to exchange session keys, push configuration parameters (optional), and authenticate users (optional) with username/password.
